I was driving in my car one day
in the expresslane
rolling down the freeway
and then suddenly the phone rings
then i stretched down beside me
then i looked on the floor, then on the backseat
see i was drinking
while i was driving
never thinking
what i was doing
i turned around

The doctors said i was never gonna make it
family wanted to make the proper arrangements
unplug the machine he's a goner
then told my wife to be stronger
then a small voice said unto me
if you promise to stop drinking
i surrendered on that day
never drinking since i've been saved

waiting on the phone to ring
praying up to god
someone would call me with a job opening
cuz it's been so hard for me, month to month
struggling to eat, but still there was no answer
i stopped believing in his word not to matter
and when somebody said god's good
i just laughed at them more then

by his grace, the phone rang
a lady said we're hiring
and that's when i knew..

I was 18 out on the block selling drugs
with a gun in my waist, it was before i had no love
see the streets was my homey
family and friends were gone
i had no one to trust
and deep inside i was all alone
and then a deal went bad one day
and it was enough to pause me
i was shot 4 times
and before i knew it, i was on my knees
pushing on my body, my hearts beating faster
i don't know what i'm gonna do, i'm not gonna last it
then i began to flashback on the things i've done in my past
then a small voice said to me
i'll give you peace if you believe
i accepted christ that day

As i was at the grocery store
there was a pain in my chest and i was wondering where did it come from
i got tested, and the results came back
and the doctor said i'm sorry but you got cancer
i could not believe it, so i called up my mama to calm my nerves
mama, she got down on her knees
mama, she said a prayer for me
mama, said just keep on thankin jesus
he'll give you all you need (thank you jesus)
but that was 5 year ago
i don't have that pain no more
doc said you can go home
cuz all the cancer's gone
