you have the lyrics wrong
as time goes by
suddenly, "oh why?"
it's
" half time goes by
suddenly you're wise"

They played this song at graduation this year and I never realized how good of a song it was or really listened to it until then.. (I'd heard it on the radio, but I never really payed attention to it) But it's really good.. and appropriate for the occasion..

What a powerful song!
I sit here listening to this, as if it were my life...this year I turn 50 and know all too well what these words represent. I just cant believe those youngsters wrote as if they understood the passage of time.
What will they do for an encore?
Beautiful song.

I've never listened to a more beautiful and meaningful song. For an ardent music lover, making such a conclusion did not come easy. Still, I did not have to think an appropriate way to discribe the song.

I had the honor of raising my baby brother the last 2 years - watch him grow, excel in sports, graduate from high school - with my own young family. This is our song. As he ventures into the unknown of the real world, his 24/7 smile turns to concern as he mentions his fear of failure. I tell him life is full of surprises, embrace change, enjoy the journey, and rise to the challenge. Life really is good.

This song was used as one of the background tracks for my son's 8th grade video "yearbook". He plays it a lot. I have explained to him the meaning of the lyrics. He is 15 this year and like most teens seems not to think about the fact thay you're only young once. Then again, he should have fun and not worry about growing up. Trouble is, you do. Hence the message. Cherish and treasure life always, especially when you're young. The song touches me deeply. Thanks for posting the lyrics here.

Rarley has a song touched me so deeply - it reminds me how short life is. I still feel 15 even though that was more than 25 years ago. The message here? Live live to the fullest - it goes by so quickly.

Very nice. Reminds you of how important it is to be grateful that you're still alive, and there's still a lot of things to do. :P
